Veteran mode
Reach Level 32 to unlock Veteran mode, which is a Co-op mode with much tougher enemies.

Zombie mode

Death Card locations
The Death Cards can be found at the following locations. Collect a Death Card to unlock its effect in Co-op mode.




Thunder

Mission: Semper Fi (Eight of Hearts)
Effect: Headshots cause enemies to explode
Location: At the very beginning after leaving the shack, you will see another shack to the right. The card is inside.
Hard Headed

Mission: Little Resistance (Four of Clubs)
Effect: Enemies take less bullet damage
Location: At the end of the mission before going into the last building, look to the right. The card is in a corner of bushes.
Suicide King

Mission: Hard Landing (King of Hearts)
Effect: Fire explosive pistol rounds while downed
Location: About halfway through the mission you will see a big building with a mini-trench outside. Enter the building, and go into the lower level. The card is to the right when you go into the room with the stairs.
Cold Dead Hands

Mission: Vendetta (Five of Diamonds)
Effect: Enemies take their weapons with them to the grave
Location: After the sniper section at the first part of the mission, Reznov will lead you through a building. Follow the bar around to the end to find the card.
Sticks & Stones

Mission: Their Land, Their Blood (Joker)
Effect: Your weapon arsenal consists of a knife and rocks
Location: Destroy the tanks, and go through the barn. Search the stalls to your right to find the card.
Vampire

Mission: Burn 'em Out (Queen of Hearts)
Effect: Can only recharge your health by getting kills
Location: Just before the second mortar position is a bunker to the left. The card is inside.
Flak Jacket

Mission: Relentless (Nine of Diamonds)
Effect: Enemies take less explosive damage
Location: At the end of the mission, take either the left or right path. Eventually the paths will reconnect. The card is about halfway down the path.
Body Armor

Mission: Ring of Steel (Jack of Spades)
Effect: Enemies die by headshot only
Location: Enter the asylum, the immediately go to the left. The card is in the far bottom left corner.
Undead Soldier

Mission: Eviction (Ace of Spades)
Effect: Enemies come back from the dead
Location: During the first half of the mission, just after the kitchen area, you will eventually see a room to your right that has a large hole in it. Drop down to find the card.
Painkiller

Mission: Blowtorch & Corkscrew (Ten of Clubs)
Effect: Shoot downed Co-op teammates to revive them
Location: Go to the left as you move toward the second bunker. A Japanese soldier hanging upside down is near the card.
Berserker

Mission: Breaking Point (Three of Diamonds)
Effect: Get three kills in five seconds to become Berserk
Location: Clear all four mortar pits, then go to the small shack in the south of this area. The card is inside.
Paintball

Mission: Heart of the Reich (Six of Clubs)
Effect: Paintball guns
Location: The card is in the closed-off subway entrance across the street from the start of the mission.
Victory

Mission: Downfall (Two of Spades)
Effect: Limits your HUD, turns on friendly fire, and bleed out in half the time
Location: Before you get to the theater, some of your allies will break through a door to your right. The card is past that door.

Carlson's Raiders 10
Complete 'Semper Fi' on any difficulty. (Solo only)
Unlocked by going through the game. This unlocks after blowing up the camp on the beach. Impossible to miss.

Survive the land and air conflict surrounding Okinawa on any difficulty. (Solo only)

On Semper Fi, there will be a soldier called Private Ryan. He will be attacked by a burning Japanese soldier shortly after you enter the area where the two paths meet. Shoot the Jap and Roebuck should congratulate you for saving Ryan.
Bloody Peleliu 30
Complete 'Little Resistance' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Weapon of Mass Destruction 15
Radio in a naval bombardment that kills at least 4 Japanese soldiers. (Solo or co-op)
On Little Resistance, you will be asked to call in a rocket strike on the beachhead while you are inside the LST. Choose an area with 4 or more enemy soldiers and this should unlock. If it does not, do not worry. There is another chance to get this near the end, where there are two tanks and you are asked to call in rocket barrages on them. Instead of giving the guys the coordinates of the tanks, just 'shoot' at the guys in the mortar pits. Call in a barrage by pressing then selecting your target.
The Sword Is Broken 30
Complete 'Hard Landing' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

No Safe Place 15
Burn an enemy out of a tree with the flamethrower in 'Hard Landing' (Solo or co-op)
On Hard Landing, after gaining the M2 flamethrower (you will be told to pickup the flamethrower) and killing the guys in the bunker, you will be heading towards the airstrip. Don't worry, I know you will be obsessed with the flamethrower so you will be keeping it. Just before the crest in the hill that leads towards the airstrip, you will see some Banzai attackers. Here, look up at the lone tree and you should notice something odd about it. Shoot a burst of the flamethrower at the tree, and the achievement should unlock.
Architect 30
Complete 'Vendetta' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)
Refer to 'Bearing the Burden' for tips.

The Professional 15
Shoot all of Amsel's henchmen, including their attack dog, without reloading. (Solo only)
On Vendetta, Reznov will ask you to snipe all of General Amsel's henchmen. These are the guys you see next to cars. When Reznov says shoot, take out the two guys to the right with a single bullet (make sure both guys are overlapping eachother), the middle ones with a single bullet, then two bullets for the guys to the left. This will leave you with the attack dog and another soldier who comes to inspect the dead soldiers. Wait for the dog to run up to you and knife it. Now use your last bullet on the last soldier. The achievement should unlock when the soldier dies.
Gunslinger 15
Assassinate General Amsel with a pistol shot. (Solo only)
On Vendetta (again) you will come across an enemy sniper on the other side of the river in the large building with the Nazi banners. Once you have finished with him, there should be a pistol lying around somewhere in the building. Follow the 'glitch' in the following video to gain around 80 rounds of ammo for you to spam bullets into Amsel's head.

The Hammer Strikes 30

Firestarter 15
Complete a mission using only the flamethrower. Melee, grenades & explosives are OK. (Solo or co-op)
On the mission 'Burn 'em Out', you will start with a flamethrower. Best done on Recruit difficulty and spam your flamethrower everywhere. You have unlimited ammo but you can overheat. Keep in mind that you can use melee attacks and grenades to wipe out enemy positions.
Fearless 30
Complete 'Relentless' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Hell on Wheels 30
Complete 'Blood and Iron' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Iron Fist 15
Destroy all towers and bunkers in 'Blood and Iron'. (Solo or co-op)
On 'Blood and Iron', there are bunkers and towers scattered around the level. This should be done on Recruit. Using your tank, clear out every enemy soldier and tank to make your task easier. Now search around the entire level for towers and bunkers to destroy. Note that water towers also count. You should slowly go through every single area on the mission to make sure you have not missed any. Here is a step by step guide on how to get the achievement:

Towers:
1. Red water tower just after you turn the first corner.
2. Red water tower directly behind the first water tower.
3. To the left of the far-left artillery gun.
4. To the right of the far-right artillery gun, in between the two bunkers.
5. Behind the right bunker.
6. To the far right, you will see it to the left of a tank sitting on the hill.
7. Before you turn right to destroy the Radio Tower you will see some Russian soldiers running across a field, look into the distance and you will see a red water tower.
8. To the left of the Radio Tower.
9. To the right of the Radio Tower.
10. Behind the left side of the big bunker.
11. To the east of the big bunker.
12. As you come over the hill you will see it to the left of the trenches with a tank in the middle.
13. To the right of the previously mentioned tank.
14. As the planes fly over they destroy this one but just check they do.
15. The furthest right you can go, north on your compass, next to some concrete blocks.
16. Follow the concrete blocks down to the left, you should see it as you drive into the train station.

Bunkers:
1. To the right of the far-right artillery gun.
2. To the right of Tower #4.
3. As you turn right in to the field with the Radio Tower look to the left a little bit, there is a bunker slightly hidden in the trees. You will see rockets fly at you from the bunker.
4. You can't miss it as you come up the hill. There are two parts to it, left and right, make sure you destroy both!
No Return 30
Complete 'Ring of Steel' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Ruthless 15
Kill 15 enemies while mounted on a tank in 'Ring of Steel'. (Solo or co-op)
On 'Ring of Steel', after coming out of the Asylum you should see two tanks. Travel to the one on the far-right and mount the turret by pressing . At this point, spam your weapons at German soldiers, and this should unlock shortly before the screen goes dark to signify the end.
When It Rains, It Pours 30
Complete 'Eviction' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)
Refer to 'Bearing the Burden' for tips.

Shot in the Dark 10
Kill 10 enemies while the lights are out in the subway in 'Eviction'. (Solo or co-op)
On 'Eviction' there will be parts in the Subway that are not lit by the lighting on the ceiling. Note that you cannot shoot the lights to disable them, but rather wait for explosions to break the power source. At this point, shoot/melee as many German soldiers you can while the lights are out. There are around three of these chances. You should get this near the end of the subway, where you go into the water.
One Bad Gato 30
Complete 'Black Cats' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

The Sum of All Zeros 15
Down 45 Japanese Zeros in 'Black Cats'. (Solo only)
Because the guns on your planes aren't very accurate, this makes killing enemy planes a lot harder. Japanese aircraft are called 'Zeros' and most of them are called out to you by your flight operator. Near the start of the Zero raid, there will be quite a lot of aircraft. You should be able to rack off around 10 kills here. During the mission, concentrate on the aircraft and not on survivors. Also try to take out the PT boats as quickly as possible when there are no Zeros around. With luck, you should be able to get this by the end of the mission.
Lights Out! 10
In 'Black Cats', blast out all of the spot lights in the Japanese cargo convoy. (Solo only)
On each cargo ship there will be two large searchlights (front and end). Use the guns to destroy these searchlights on all three cargo ships and this achievement will unlock.
Blowtorch & Corkscrew 30
Complete 'Blowtorch & Corkscrew' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Setting of the Sun 30
Complete 'Breaking Point' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Mortar-dom 10
Kill 8 Japanese with thrown mortars in 'Breaking Point'. (Solo or co-op)
On 'Breaking Point', you will come across improvised mortars on crates. Press to pick one up and throw it into a mortar pit or on an enemy soldier just like you would a grenade. Be careful not to throw them too close to you as they do have a large explosive capability.
Guardian Angel 10
In the final battle for Okinawa, save Sergeant Roebuck. (Solo or co-op)
On 'Breaking Point', after going up the last building and Roebuck crash down the door to the supply drop area, you will see three 'surrendering' Japanese soldiers. Petrosky and Roebuck will go over to them and your weapon will be lowered. Stay back though, as the Japanese soldiers turn out to be suicide bombers. Look at the soldiers near Roebuck and shoot both of them when your gun returns.
For the Motherland 30
Complete 'Heart of the Reich' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)
Refer to 'Bearing the Burden' for tips.

Bearing the Burden 30
Complete 'Downfall' on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)
Veteran difficulty is harder then CoD4 but easier (in some places) then CoD2. The first few levels (Semper Fi, Little Resistance, etc) are easy, but the last couple of extremely difficult. As a general 'Veteran surviving' guide, follow:

1. Patience is a virtue. But don't be to patient! Never enter a battle unless you have other soldiers with you. They will make your life a lot easier. Some places have enemies that infinitely spawn, so here you will have the move up to stop the influx of enemy soldiers. Others, you just need to kill every soldier. These are the ones you need to be patient on. Make sure every last soldier is dead before moving on.

2. CoD: World at War has been referred to as CoD: Grenades at War. True, true... It is literally raining with grenades on Veteran, as if the German/Japanese soldiers have the Catch skull on from Halo 3. If you see the 'RB to throw back' signal come up on your screen, PRESS IT! Grenades take a while to detonate in the campaign.

3. Smoke grenades, although having no lethal capabilites, will make life a lot easier. Especially with MG nests. You start with 4, with ample amounts of them around you. Don't spam them however, only use them against heavily fortified positions where you can flank them or against MG turrets.

4. Being prone and crouching is a very big part of running this game on Veteran. Chances are, most of the cover you find will be smaller then your standing height. So go prone/crouch. This will make you a smaller target, thus harder the hit, and in turn you have less deaths.

5. Treat Veteran difficulty like Realistic in Rainbow Six. Cover! Cover! Stay in cover at all times. Make sure this is cover like cement walls or rocks, because enemies can still shoot through flimsy wooden walls (It's the Call of Duty 4 engine, remember?). And remember, if you want to help out your teammates, peak out on the side while prone or over the top and shoot a single burst on a single guy. Go back down and reload, then rinse and repeat.
Rough Economy 15
Kill 3 enemies with a single bullet. (Solo or co-op)
On 'Vendetta' after you are meant to sneak away after taking your prey (Amsel's henchmen), climb out with Reznov but stay in the open. You will have over 20 guards to take down and hopefully you will get this. One theory suggests that on Recruit you will take less damage but do less damage, and on Veteran you will take more damage and do more damage.

Survive a Banzai attack. (Solo only)
During American-Japanese conflicts you will run across Banzai soldiers. These are ones who yell out "BANZAAAAIIIII!!!!!" and charge at your with an Ariska-Bayonet. They will push you down (much like dogs in COD4) and you will have a second or so to push the right stick. You will push the bayonet away and knife the attacker in the side of the neck.
Snake in the Grass 15
Take out a Japanese soldier while he is lying in wait in the grass. (Solo or co-op)
During Blowtorch and Corkscrew, there are many Japanese soliders lying in wait in the grass. Throw a random grenade and you should be able to get this. In the part before crossing the path up the hill, there will be 5 or 6 hidden soldiers next to a large rock formation. Throw a grenade in there and you will kill one.

Complete any level on Regular difficulty or higher using only melee and grenades. (Solo only)
Don't be silly and play on Regular difficulty. On 'Semper Fi', use your teammates wisely and smoke grenades. Sprint up to a guy and knife him. It is also ammusing to get a knife killing streak.
Throw a Six and a Half 15
On Hardened or Veteran difficulty, complete a level without dying. (Solo only)
Easiest done on Blood & Iron or Little Resistance on Hardened difficulty. Be careful and treat the mission like its on Veteran difficulty.
Purple Heart 5
When staring into the face of adversity, show courage and persevere.
On Veteran difficulty, run up to an enemy soldier and get killed. Rinse and repeat 20 times. Interesting achievement, eh?
War Hero 40
Complete the game on any difficulty. (Solo only)
Unlocked by going through the game. Achieved when at the end of the mission 'Downfall'. Congratulations.
Hardened War Hero 100
Complete the game on Hardened or Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)
Unlocked by going through the game... on Hardened or Veteran. I recommend doing it on Veteran to save you another playthrough. However, if you really want the achievement and only have a couple more missions do them on Hardened... Lazy.
Get Your Left Foot Wet 30
Complete a match in Campaign Co-Op mode over Xbox LIVE. (Online co-op only)
Complete any match of CAMPAIGN Co-Op over LIVE. At the main menu, choose Cooperative then Campaign Co-Op on Recruit. You should get a game in no time. Just finish it and the achievement is yours.
Get Your Right Foot Wet 30
Complete a match in Competitive Co-Op mode over Xbox LIVE. (Online co-op only)
Complete any match of COMPETITIVE Co-Op over LIVE. At the main menu, choose Cooperative then Competitive Co-Op on Recruit.
Blue Ribbon 25
Complete a 4-player Competitive Co-Op match in 1st place over Xbox LIVE. (Online co-op only)
Come first in any competitive Co-Op match that has 4 players. Set up a party of friends and get them to let you do most of the work (completing objectives, killing, etc). Try to kill as many people as you can quickly to get the multiplier bonus.
Soul Survivor 50
Reach round 15 in Nazi Zombies without getting revived. (Map Pack 2 only)
You must reach level 15 without being downed by the zombies. See "Big Baller" for best strategy.




Hammer Time 10
Repair 200 window boards in a single game. (Map Pack 2 only)
This can be done offline.

Load up a single player game, kill every zombie in the first round until there is one left outside a window. Allow him to rip one board off the window, replace, rinse and repeat. Should take no longer than 10 minutes.



Weapon of Minor Destruction 20
Kill no more than one zombie with a nuke. (Map Pack 2 only)
This can be done offline.

Easiest done with 2 players, start a new game and allow the zombies to enter, kill them until you get a nuke, make sure there are no other zombies except and pick up the nuke. Easiest done if the nuke spawns at the the end of the round.

Also if you have killed everyone and the last guy had a nuke, pick it up, you will get 0 kills but the achievement will still unlock.

Big Baller 30
Earn 75,000 points in a single Nazi Zombie game. (Map Pack 2 only)
There are 3 different strategies that work for this achievement:

To anyone still having difficulties with using the solo strategy, I found using the Vandz method for the dogs to be extremely easy, then using a Thompson with the Morris method. I was able to get over 75000 by round 28.

The Four Player Strategy

Some general comments first:

- You likely only make it up to level 20 with this strategy but we managed 21.
- Your last stand takes place in the fishing hut.
- If you get to level 20 and cannot get any further only one person will managed to get the achievement per game.
- Juggernaut and Quick Reload are essential but all 4 perks are essential for level 18+
- The point man i.e. the player going for 75k will need 500+ kills with between 100-200 headshots to get the 75k or between 400 and 500 with more than 200 headshots.
- Do not try to make stands in either the Doctors Quarters or the Comm Room as they have poor weapons that spawn on the wall.


Rounds 1 - 10

Here you must go for headshots and as soon as you have enough money buy the Gewehr, continue to headshot everyone and once someone has enough points, remove the debris off the stairs and hold out both up and downstairs. Again once you have 1000 buy the bouncing bettys next to the flogger. Now if you have enough money (at least two people with 1000) now move either to the fishing hut or storage. This strategy hinges a lot but not essentially on getting the Juggernaut perk in the fishing hut. Now once in either the fishing hut or storage you want to cover the windows using 2 players and the entrance using 2 players. The point man i.e. the guy who is going for the 75k should use his Gewehr for long range kills and buy either the Type 100 or MP40 for short range. The second player at the door should only shoot when required i.e. when the point man is in danger. Remember to use the electrical fence. The aim here is for everyone to obtain enough points for the first perk. You will likely come across the dogs in either the fishing hut or storage. Kill all them and when everyone has the 1st perk at the end of the round you guys should roll to the next outbuilding. When on the move between earlier round it is a good idea to try and get some decent guns out of the mystery chest but make sure your team has enough to unlock fully the second outbuilding. The second building should be either the left over building from which everyone you chose first i.e. if you went to storage you should now go to the fish hit. Keep the same setup with window watchers and door watchers, it is likely that the second doorman will need to get more involved this team. You are unlikely to encounter dog again until around level 17+ so don't worry but always be wary. Everyone is probably going to have to start using the new gun on the wall in second building, keep holding off until everyone has the second perk. Try to not be downed in the first 10 rounds as you will lose you hard earned perks. Once everyone has 2 perks time to move again.

Rounds 10 -15

These rounds are crucial to your success, head to the third building either Doctors Quarters or Storage. Neither of these buildings have effective weapons on the wall so on your travel try to get something decent out of the mystery box. Once you are in your third building save up for the third perk, everyone getting this perk is not essential at the moment you really only need the door men to get but the more the better, now once you get insta-kill while in your third building you are going to want to run back to the fish hut, arm up with MP40's as your primary and whatever secondary you have hold out here until the front is clear but once the enemies start reducing at the back have your window men through grenades to try and get a crawler (zombie with no legs) as your last enemy, with this crawler you now be able to with your racks of points to get your 4th perk and find the mystery box until either everyone has great guns or you run out of money.

Rounds 15 - 20

The LAST STAND!!!! Now with everyone 4 perked and armed to the teeth time to party. In my 75k run we actually started this step on level 14 but it really depends on what level you get your crawler. Get the point man to r dome the crawler and everyone run to the fish hut. Have your two window men cover with MP40's and your two doormen use MP40's, communicate and rotate when each person gets more ammo of the wall. Use the electrical fence and you good secondary if you have one when you get in trouble. If anyone gets downed at this stage, I would recommend getting another crawler and getting your 4 perks again. This is why getting the Juggernaut perk at the fish hut is crucial because if you are downed you need to immediately get that perk again. If anyone has the new gun the W DG42 or whatever, have them use it when the shit hits the fan as its very effective at clearing the space and giving everyone a bit of air.

With this strategy we managed to get to level 20 4 times and 19 once, two of us got 72k on our first run then on our second we got 75k. The achievement should pop for the point man in the 20th round.

The Morris Method

Round 1.- Knife the zombies while they attempt to enter

Round 2.- you are still upstairs, 5 shot each zombie then knife, try to do it before they enter because it will be harder

Round 3-8.- open downstairs, grab the thompson that is in front of the mistery box aside of a doorway, now go to the doctor's quarters door but DON'T open it, stay where the gate is with a table in front of it. You now have two perfect views of zombies.
When the dogs come between these rounds, go to the storage gate but dont open it, you have the thompson, stay there and now its easier to kill the dogs. Another way is run back and forward between two rooms and kill them while walking shooting from the hip.
In round 8 watch out not to kill the last zombie, instead cook a grenade and throw it to him, after he starts crawling seek for either the juggernaut or the sleight of hand in any island except com room because that is the hard lvls spot. after you searched for the juggernaut and where lucky enough to find it. Also if you get the wunderwaffe please try to change it for a better secondary weapon as MG but not the BAR.

Round 9+ .- Now here goes what you will do until you get the achievement you will be doing this, follow this video, but instead of doing it with the ray gun, try it with the PPSh and you can get also the headshots achievement.

Perk-a-Holic 20
Have all four perks simultaneously active in a game of Nazi Zombies. (Map Pack 2 only)
You will obtain this when you have all four perks active at the same time use this strategy to earn this achievement.

Here is how to basically get 75000 points but on the way you will get Perk-a-holic, Fertilizer Man and Deadhead.

Some general comments first:

- You likely only make it up to level 20 with this strategy but we managed 21.

Big Brawler 30
Get 10 consecutive zombie melee kills before Insta-Kill expires. (Map Pack 2 only)
This can be done offline.

You can either repeat the process used for "Weapon of Minor Destruction" or gain it on the way to 75k, see "Big Baller" for strategies.



It's a Trap! 20
Kill at least one zombie with three different traps in a single round. (Map Pack 2 only)
This can be done with 3 or more players, one player must activate 3 traps in the same round. Have one player save up 3000 to activate each trap, have the other players open the doors and gates for both the storage and fishing hut. Start at either fishing hut or storage, at the start of a new round wait for a zombie to arrive activate the electrical fence. Once that is over run through to the flogger, have your team mates cover you while you wait for a zombie to flog, once you have him activate it and run to the last house either the fishing hut or storage.

Which ever one you haven't been to yet, wait for a zombie and then activate the electrical fence. Easily done between level 5 - 10. If the other players in the game want the achievement, you should run back to the first house and start again when a new round starts.



Fertilizer Man 30
Kill 200 zombies in a single game. (Map Pack 2 only)
See "Deadhead" for more info.



Deadhead 30
Get 150 zombie headshots in a single game. (Map Pack 2 only)
You will get his easily when you are attempting the 75k run. Use the strategies listed in the "Big Baller" description.

Try to get as many headshots as possible in the earlier rounds.

Open all doors in the map. (Map Pack 3 only)

The Might of the Monkey! 25
Use the Monkey Bomb. (Map Pack 3 only)
